3 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Your Session…

WHOO HOO! You booked a photo session! Now what will you wear?!

Here are three questions to ask yourself while planning your outfits!

  1. What is our color scheme?

If you are struggling with what color scheme to go with, always pick neutrals! Is everyone wearing the same thing? Add some pattern and texture to your outfits from layering jackets to printed blouses and dresses! Not everyone needs to be wearing the same color but having an array of outfits that match well together will help everyone blend!

For light and airy, choose pastels, and whites! For the in-between, neutrals and a mix of colors that are meant to pop! For dark-moody photos, stick to darker colors like black, greys, and browns! Your outfits will reflect the type of ~ vibe ~ you are searching for.

I specifically have a link on my Instagram profile, where I have linked any outfit inspiration for ALL types of sessions. Rather yet, here is the link below!

  2. How do you want your story to be told?

Are you the couple who wants to show their intimate love? I would recommend finding a photographer who specializes in the moody-intimate photos. Are you a senior in high school who is just giggly and bubbly as can be? I would recommend finding a photographer who captures more real-authentic posing to get your smile and personality captured. Are you a family who is looking to update their decor in their home? I would recommend finding a photographer who is really good at keeping your littles moving and capturing the love in your home.

This also means, how to choose your photographer. Each photographer has a different editing style, different poses, and a different way of telling your story. Don’t be afraid to reach out to a local photographer and ask them to see a couple of photos from a recent engagement session, senior session, or family session!

  3. When and where are your photos being taken?

Weather and location play a huge part in this! You wouldn’t want to be wearing a tank-top and shorts in December (unless we are at the beach!) OR a winter dress in the July humidity! Set the scene for yourself when planning on when AND where you will be taking photos! Location is important as far as what you will feel comfortable in!

Here are some of my favorite outfit combos from sessions!

Photos are not meant to be scary! I know you’ve got a ton of details you are running through your brain to make sure everything is perfect during your session. Your story will be told the way it is meant to unfold. Your children will be children, your love story will be shown throughout your photos, and your senior sessions will scream YOU.

I hoped this helped!
