Styled Photoshoot

In January, I hosted a styled photoshoot at Meraki Studios Co. and here is how it went!

The vibes were ELECTRIC!

I am apart of this Facebook group called “Midwest Young Photographers,” and for the last couple months I would scroll through Facebook and see all these posts from creatives who were just starting out or wanting to get into a select niche in the industry. I kept pushing this idea aside of putting together an event that would bring some of us together - because I thought,"for sure someone would put one together in our area?!” Time past and I kept itching to connect with people in the industry. I have learned so much from others and I felt like I wasn’t helping further our industry by just sitting around and waiting for someone else to step in.

So I talked to some vendors…

I brought in a good friend of mine who is also in the wedding industry, Madison Bruns. Madison is a wedding florist, planner, and designer out of southwest Iowa. She helped me bring my vision to life! I literally sent her my mood-board and she took it and rolled with it - I am blown away with her creative ability!!!!

I talked with Hayley, the owner of Meraki Studios in Lincoln, telling her my plans and hopes for this event! She has this beautiful studio in downtown Lincoln, NE that can be sleek and modest or bold and edgy! Her space is amazing and I loved every minute working with Hayley!

I talked with some good friends of mine that I felt like this was their vibe, Mackenzie + Andrew Welch. I actually filmed their wedding in August, and so I knew this was right down their alley. PLUS they got to reminisce and put on their wedding attire again! - By the way, if you are a bride who loves to have a good time and somehow got a stain on your wedding dress - Mackenzie used Dawn dish soap and those suckers came right out! LOL!

I met with Natalie + Trent over Facebook as I was in search for one last couple! I felt the need to bring in more than one couple to give us a variety of people and with the amount of people that attended, I felt like it was good to divide and conquer! Natalie is a photographer out of Lincoln - so she knew a thing or two about a thing or two ;) Our models made our jobs soooo easy!!!

I got giddy thinking about bringing together creatives to help and grow from each other in this industry. I think that is the biggest misconception in this creative industry - thinking that we need to gate-keep and not make connections in order to succeed. I am trying to change that so much, and this event was just one step closer in that direction!

MEET THE PHOTOGRAPHERS!!!

10 photographers attended this event and I am so excited to share you with them! Be sure to like, comment and follow their page to see what they’re up to!
