How to Choose Your Photographer

WEDDING EDITION

This decision is one of the biggest you will make and it will be one of the first decisions you should be making before any more wedding planning details!

Where do you even start?!

I’ve put together some suggestions for you while you start to narrow down your search for your wedding photographer, I hope this helps!

  1. Photography Style

What style of photography do YOU like? At this point, I would love for you to focus on the styles and posing of your local creatives. What do you feel fits you + your love story the best? Follow your gut! It’s so important to choose a photographers’ style that you love! This makes it easier to connect + vibe with them throughout your wedding planning process!

  2. Budget

Make a list of the creatives that align with the budget you’ve set aside for your photo needs! Which ones fit in that category? Which one(s) do you love?

  3. Read Reviews!

When you are inquiring with photographers, make sure to check out their reviews (especially anything from past brides), anyone can take great photos - but it is the experience and service that can truly make or break your decision!

  4. Reach Out

My biggest tip of advice for you would be to research your top two photographers and set up calls with them! Do your research from their website + bring any questions or concerns! Always mention that you are strictly LOOKING, so you’re not settling until you know for sure which direction you want to take. And when you do meet, be sure to take under account everything! From how they conduct themselves, how they make you feel and what service they provide from that first meeting!!

  5. Ask Questions!

Ask to see a full gallery! Yes, really! Bring your questions regarding legal stuff, important aspects or questions you specifically have for your day! If there is any photographer who feels weird about sharing an entire wedding album with you, that should be a HUGE red flag. RUN!

After this is all said and done, you should have one person that stands out above the rest! Know that not every photographer you meet with is for you. THAT IS OKAY!!! As you are in search for your photographer, be sure to respond to them if you decide to go a different route. Remember, we are people too! As much as we would love to work with you, we totally understand! It is ultimately your choice to hire whomever for your wedding day! We will always want you to have the best day ever, regardless!!
